Prepare for non of it to work❌

What is up to us, what is not up to us

In the meantime, cling tooth and nail to the following rule: not to give in to adversity, not to trust prosperity, and always take full note of fortune’s habit of behaving just as she pleases.

Seneca

One of the biggest steps we can take towards personal growth is being able to tell apart fom what we can control and what we can’t.

ta eph’hemin, ta ouk eph’hemin
(what we control, what we can’t control)

Today we live in a world in which, thanks to technology, have wrongly assumed that we can have everything under our control.

This missconception is further reinforced by modern “self help” approach which empowers people to take full control of their lives as if that were a possibility for any of us.

We must understand that fortune will always play a significant role in our lives and regardless of how hard we try to control every minor detail of it, we´ll never be able to predict the outcome.

I like Ryan Holiday´s approach:

prepare for non of it to work

It´s not a pessimistic approach, but rather a real one.

As much as we´d like to, we can´t control the world around us, and understanding that is key to our own success as well as some peace of mind.

The world could use fewer martyrs.

Ryan Holiday

Whenever a situation arises, we must always remember:

Our job is to do our best. That’s it. Not the impossible.

Nothing can prevent us from trying, but nothing can assure us it’ll go according to plan.

So do your best and find your peace with it.
